Please call to book your appointment at least 1-2 weeks in advance. Less than a week notice is charged a $25 fee. Mail a deposit to confirm date and time of services request. Distances of more than 20 miles round-trip are an additional fee of $20.00 an hour driving time.

I had the pleasure of working with Diana Tenes in September of 2005 on the film “Fat Rose and Squeaky.” On this film all departments were sorely challenged by the limitations of budget and time. In my fifty years of professional experience it is at times like these that we need the most professional people in all departments to satisfactorily achieve the making of a film. Diana Tenes rose to this challenge on “Fat Rose and Squeaky” and discharged her responsibilities to the film and particularly to me with professionalism, grace and charm and we were able to start each day, too few though they were, with at least the comfort that the wardrobe was correct. Diana was the entire wardrobe department and we could rely on her 100%. I was very pleased with my wardrobe in character and I could recommend Diana for any future work in this department. Diana Tenes

Diana Tenes is a multitalented and unique individual. She is a native Californian, was born and raised in San Jose/San Francisco Bay area. She started acting in high school, then became interested in Fashion and Costume design. Winning a full scholarship from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising , she moved to Los Angeles and earned her Associate Degree in Fashion Design. Diana has won awards for her Fashion Designs including the Black Filmmaker Hall of Fame/I.Peri -Outstanding Designer in the Bay Area, Excellence in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute, and a medal from the Santa Clara County Fair for Jewelry Design.

Continuing her studies at San Francisco State University, her interest in acting was rekindled when she designed costumes for the Chicano Theater Department. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Art: Conceptual Design/Performance Art from San Francisco State.

Diana is an accomplished actress. Working in front of the camera since 1994 in corporate videos, commercials, independent film, and print work as well.

Diana is always seeking ways to expand her creativity and artistry. She started her venture into Makeup Artistry while working on Cathy Morgan, an independent film. She had the opportunity to do a drag Queen Makeover for one of the characters, was sponsored by M.A.C. Cosmetics for this project and has never looked back. Her talents include designing Makeup, Face and Body Art for television, film and print, Face Painting for children, teens and special events.

She teaches Make-up, Fantasy Make-up and Face Painting. She won a grant from The East Bay Urban Arts Institute to teach students at Oakland Technical High School in California Face Painting.

She is also a Professional speaker talking on a variety of subjects.

This is a letter of recommendation for Diana Tenes. Diana has worked for the Oakland Museum of California as a face painter since 1998 at a variety of family and community programs. Diana has distinguished herself in every capacity of this demanding job and I would highly recommend her for any position in the areas of face painting for large and small public events as well as teaching the art of face painting for youth/and or adults.

For the past two years Diana has been the lead face painter for "A Community Celebration for The Days of the Dead," the Museum of California's largest annual community event drawing an audience of more than 3,000 people. Each year, Diana has demonstrated extraordinary creativity, focus and patience while playing the dual role of artist and instructor for a team of more than 20 volunteer face painters. Diana was able to effectively juggle competing demands of working with volunteer of all levels of interest, experience and ability. Face painting for the "Community Celebration" is very specific to the Calavera (Skeleton) traditions of the Days of the Dead and Diana worked beautifully within the artistic and cultural confines of that specific tradition.

Diana is knowledgeable in her craft and is able to move from specific traditional assignments to the broader realm of festival face painting as she demonstrated in the museum's 30th Anniversary Celebration. Diana has worked visitors ranging from preschool to adult. She has lead training sessions in face painting for young adults and community volunteers with great success. She always adapts her presentation for the audience and situation. She is equally comfortable with a large or small group of students.

Diana has a wonderful mix of openness and experience; she embraces projects with both seasoning and energy. Her manner in dealing with people is warm and friendly. It is a great pleasure to work with her. We consider her an asset to the education programming here at Oakland Museum of California.

I arrived at junior high in the latest 90s fashion — baggy, denim

bib overalls, a slinky yellow top, messy Chun-Li style (think Street

Fighter) pigtails and white shoes. As I stumbled about the hallways,

a scraggly, pre-adolescent boy in my class shouted, “Hey, no white

shoes a!er labor day!” Uh, really? It still remains in my memory

today.

For those who follow the “no white a!er labor day” principle,

Memorial Day marks the “safe zone” for this much-debated color.

But is the old adage still relevant today? I turned to the experts.

“I say that you can wear white a!er Labor Day if you wear it with

style,” said stylist Suzanne Mauro, accredited by the Association of

Image Consultants. “White is vibrant and clean, and above all, it is

like turning a fresh new page.”

Diana Tenes, celebrity wardrobe stylist and make-up artist, says it

depends on the fabric. “You can wear white all year-round if you just

relate the fabric to the season: white wool and fur for winter, cotton

for spring, and linen and sheer lightweight fabrics for summer.”

According to the runway, white is a “must have” color this spring.

Glamazons, Coutura and Ferocia, celebrity fashion and beauty

bloggers, recommend donning a white lace dress, blazer, jumpsuit,

sheer blouse, white wedge shoes or white jeans this spring. And, don’t

forget to add a splash of color.

“For a casual look, pair white pieces with neutral accessories

like metallic or nude,” said the Glamazons. “If you want to go bold,

accessorize with a bright handbag and pumps for color that will pop.”

"ere is a WRONG way to wear white, however. Noelle Cellini,

personal stylist and business owner of My Best Foot Forward, says,

“"e only white item that does not work a!er Labor Day is a pair of

white shoes.”

Many women also blunder when it comes to what’s underneath.

“"e biggest mistake women make is wearing white with the wrong

undergarments,” said the Glamazons. “White can be sheer, so choose

black panties and bras that won’t show underneath your out#t. And

whatever you do, don’t wear ‘grannie panties.’ Stick with thongs or

line-less boy shorts.”

Whether you choose to follow the old adage or not, remember to

stay fabulous!
